    Fusing Fantasy Fibers

    August 23, 2012 / No Comments

I tried my hand this week at playing with Art Glitter’s Fantasy Fibers. I’ve not used them before but what thrilled me was the way they fuse together and the fact that you can embed STUFF in them! Hop on over to the Art Glitter Blog today to see how I used the Fantasy Fibers in this project.

I have been trying so many glitter techniques lately and having a blast doing so! And, have you watched Craft Wars yet on TLC on Tuesday nights? They’ve had glitter everywhere – especially this week. In just a few short months I’ve discovered so many ways to use glitter. Sometimes, an idea just hits me while perusing my stash of Stampington magazines to where I wonder if i could replace a certain product with glitter. That’s what happened last week. I usually bookmark ideas with tons of sticky notes for future reference and I came across an article in the Apr/May 2010 The Stamper’s Sampler titled “Beautiful Brayering” I had…

This is a sweet little card – perfect for a birth announcement, recognition or first birthday. Here’s how it’s made: Start with Piccolo Card Decor Set #8. Carefully remove the two pieces from the frame and clean up any rough edges by lightly sanding. I find it rare that I need to sand any edges on the Piccolo elements; they tend to remove easily and cleanly from the background. Start by inking your first piece with Piccolo Enamel Adhesive and sprinkle on the Piccolo Enamel.  I like to tip my covered element over a bead or glitter tray to catch excess enamel rather than tap it off. Heat set the…

    Operation Write Home

    June 29, 2012 / No Comments

Xyron and We R Memory Keepers have partnered to help support Operation Write Home, an organization that provides handmade cards to deployed soldiers so they can write home to their families and loved ones. Xyron Design Team members are participating and samples of all the great cards have been shared throughout the week on Ain’t She Crafty. Hop on over there to check them all out! For my cards, I took a cue from my friend Robin who has participated in Operation Write Home frequently. She’s mailed hundreds of cards to the organization that she and friends have made and also those from our Cracker Jack Stampers club. Her cards for…

The journey awakens the soul but I think I’ll just sleep …

    June 9, 2012 / No Comments

If you read my post of Globecraft Memories today you’ll know that I’ve been making cards this week – and staying up WAY too late! Been playing around with our Piccolo Card Decor & More packets and really liking ’em! Love that all the pieces coordinate, punch out easily and have lots of detail. For this one I basically used several varieties of our Piccolo Enamel Powders – look at all the color on those gears! Titled, “the journey awakens the soul,” the old jalopy and map paper from Tim Holtz mix great with the Vintage Gears, ST002 pack. After punching the pieces I decided to use our enamel powders…

    Creating delegate lace look

I love being part of the Art Glitter Design Team. It is pushing me to try new things and use products in ways I never really gave any thought to before. Now I’ll be driving here or there and all of sudden it will dawn on me -“hey, this might work this way” or “I wonder what would happen if I did that.” This faux lace technique is one of those “wonder” moments I couldn’t wait to try. As a member of the Art Glitter Design Team I am responsible for creating several samples each month that demonstrate techniques for using Art Glitter product. The faux lace technique is one…

    A colorful legend …

    August 31, 2011 / No Comments

This is one of my favorite stamps and not so surprisingly, one of my students favorites as well. It’s called Dragonfly Legend and it’s from Stamper’s Anonymous. I find a lot of my favorite stamps are from this company. My favorite way to use Dragonfly Legend is to over-stamp a pretty background. I’ve used it over backgrounds made with Ranger’s Distress Inks and Tim Holtz’ wrinkle-free distress technique. I’ve also made colorful backgrounds with Ranger’s Adirondack Alcohol Inks on glossy cardstock and stamped it on there. This particular card, however, is made using Creative Imagination’s Radiant Rain dabbers on glossy cardstock. I really like the way the Radiant Rain colors mix and swirl when spritzing with…

I love paint-spattered jeans and baggy flannel shirts, being up to my eyeballs in a DIY project or working my way through a new class of some sort. Oh, and a good cup of coffee – let’s not forget the coffee! All the while Bailey is trying his best to get my attention.
