    Delving into submissions …

It’s something I thought I would never get around to doing but I went and did it recently – I submitted for design teams. Oh, not a lot; just a few. I checked out http://designteamcalls.com and a couple of companies caught my eye, one of them being Heartfelt Creations. They were looking for designers who dabble in vintage, shabby chic, clean and simple, elegant, and mixed styles, to create cards, layouts, and altered art projects and I thought – that’s right up my alley – well, not the clean-and-simple! The company has some very intriguing stamps and dies and I’m really hoping for the opportunity to play with them (check…

    We need only believe…

It’s Christmas Eve and here I sit at the dining table in the dark admiring the glow from the Christmas tree while half-watching “A Diva’s Christmas Carol” playing on the Lifetime channel and wondering what to write. Then I spot the “Believe” tag hanging from the gift bag of cookies and candies and it reminds me that it’s good to believe. It’s good to believe in something. It what keeps us going, keep us positive. I’ve always believed “it” will get better – whatever “it” may be. I believe that as long as Dennis and I have our health and love for each other we’re doing very good. I believe…

Enjoying the comforts of Fall …

I’ve been busy prepping kits for a session with the Brush Benders early next week and working on Christmas projects for upcoming classes but this beautiful weather just beckons me outdoors! Not only have I sat outdoors watching the birds play in the pond – they’re very active in the stream this time of year for some reason – but also convinced Dennis to take another walk at Kensington. What a lovely afternoon we had on the trails. Seen two deer and lots of chipmunks. Being active just makes me feel better – and the fresh air doesn’t hurt either! This cooler weather also makes me want to cook! I…

Celebrating random chunks of time …

My mother-in-law has been delivered safely to her home back in Florida – a three-day drive there and two-day visit and then another three-day drive home. The lovely lady spent the summer with us and was right at home with the temps we’ve been experiencing. After weeks of 90-plus degree temperatures and air conditioning everyday it’s now in the 50’s and I’m tempted to turn on the furnace! Go figure. Dennis and I celebrated our anniversary today with a brisk 2 1/2-mile walk at Kensington finished off by pizza at home from Soda Pops – yum! I can’t help but wonder – if it’s been 42 years does that make…

    Another chapter ends …

Well, it’s true. Scrap Tales, the wonderful scrapbook store where I have worked for nearly nine years is closing its doors for good. The news just saddens us all who love this store. I started working there as a part-time employee and moved into manager/creative director shortly afterward. Working in the industry has been a real joy which has enabled me to build my skills and my love for mixed-media. I’ve met some wonderful people in the industry and have made great friends through my position at the store. Scrap Tales provided me with a platform for teaching – something I never, ever thought I would do – only to discover…

Welcome to the new blog …

For some time now I have been experiencing problems with my blog at http://scrappedtreasures.com and I simply couldn’t figure out on my own how to resolve them so I finally decided to create a new one. My son had initially created it for me and with him in Seattle it just wasn’t feasible for him to help me so I reasoned that if I created this one myself I should be able to figure out any problems that might arise and there is always tech support. I’ve been working on it while on vacation and it’s coming along nicely I think. There is still quite a bit left to do…
