    Savoring every page …

So I come in the back door like I do every day from work, drop the keys in the watermelon dish, empty the lunch bag and put the dirty dishes in the dishwasher and then look to see if there is any mail on the counter for me. There usually isn’t. But today there’s a large manilla envelope along with a bill. I’m opening the bill and see the large envelope is from Stampington and I’m thinking it’s a catalog from CHA and then … the flutters start in the stomach. I realize I didn’t order any catalog and I remember the company sends a free copy of the magazine…

    Fall workshops

Even though temps are still pretty high around here my attention is focused on Fall – Fall workshops that is. I’ve been working on several projects this summer that will be offered this Fall as workshops and I wanted to share some sneak peeks with you all. My calendar is being updated as workshops get confirmed so check back often. The first is this Christmas-themed configurations tray using Graphic 45 papers, Art Glitter, Globecraft Memories and Xyron. Go figure! I managed to work them all into one project that I think you’ll love to display each year during the holiday season. We’ll work with acrylic paints, inks, embossing powders, fussy-cutting,…

    Are you ready to Ramble?

Ranger Ramblings: Part II is finally ready for teaching! I had a really great time experimenting with techniques I hadn’t tried before. I also used the Ranger Distress Stains for the first time and absolutely love them! The colors are so much more intense than Distress inks. I practiced some different techniques with embossing powders I hadn’t done before and am really pleased with the results. It’s just so much fun to sit and play with techniques I’d been wanting to but never got around to. I tend to collect techniques, tutorials and You Tube videos for future play dates. I have folders full of printouts, and loads of sites…

Using minimal supplies to create one-of-a-kind gifts…

This old-fashioned looking tag came about because of a special gift I received from my friend Robin at Cracker Jack Stampers the other night. Robin made us all beautiful gift tags and adorable little wrapped packages of chocolate – love chocolate! The gift inspired me to create hand-made tags to add to the home-made peanut brittle I make and give each Christmas. The peanut brittle has become a cooking tradition for me and something I really enjoy making and giving. So using some basic stamping supplies and a stack of manila shipping tags I set out to create a collection of individually-designed tags. I also proceeded to make one giant…

    Putting techniques into play …

Our theme for tonight’s Cracker Jack Stampers meeting was glitter. I never really used glitter much until I took a class from Barbara Trombley of Art Glitter and discovered how I could incorporate glitter into my style of distress and vintage. So, if you’re like a lot of my artsy friends, we’ve been following Tim’s 12 Tags of Christmas and today’s tag was so over the top with STUFF that I decided to take his lead and really incorporate tons of technique and embellishments. It was a lot of fun to create and I tried techniques I’ve been wanting experiment with for a long time. I started with a plain…

    Focusing on the positive…

If there was ever a time when everything falls apart it was in class this past weekend and, as an instructor, that’s the one place you never want it to happen. I’ll admit, the majority of my classes usually go extremely well and I consider myself very fortunate. It doesn’t just happen, though. There’s a lot of time put into designing my projects, keeping track of all the products used and writing easy-to-follow instructions with color photos for all the students. I package kits and pack extra supplies. The store owners receive a complete list of products that will be used in class and they receive a sample for display.…
